I suppose it's old now, but I want to re-iterate the Thanks to Chris Solomons for giving his permission for this video to be used on medical training courses. The help from it is probably incalculable.

This video answered my question really well. I have an allergic type of bronchiectasis, so I cough a lot sometimes. I had syncope twice this year. The first time, I hit the bathroom floor so hard that I got three open wounds on my face. Now, I need to be more cautious when driving with a cough. Last night, I had my second episode. I was casually talking to my wife before sleep when a coughing fit led to syncope. I remember feeling a click in my left artery, which reminded me of the first time in the bathroom. I called for my wife's help, and the last thing I heard was her asking, "What's wrong?" before I passed out. About 1-2 minutes later, I regained consciousness and told my wife what happened. She said, "Really? Because you wouldn't stop coughing..." So, I think my coughing didn't stop even when my heart restarted. It was a scary experience, and I can't stop thinking about the risks when I'm riding or driving. Thanks for sharing this years ago. Surely, this video has helped people with their worries, like me.

This is caused by POTS, sometimes induced by trauma. It is a natural defense mechanism for survival in some cases.... but a symptom of adrenal fatigue, blood pressure drops. SNRI helps some.

Thank you. I recently had a syncope episode at the check out line in a popular dept store. I had a dress on....guestion....they took me to ER...why does it take me so long to recover....I have an appointment in November with a Vanderbilt specialist. This is happening more often...I have had several overlapping diagnosis.... POTs, Nuerocardiogenic Syncope, Afib, Vasovagal, Hypokalemia, Orthostatic Hypotention, Supine Hypertention...the list goes on. I am 70 now, but have suffered from this for a long time. I am afraid of leave my safety zone, my home. I am continually visiting medical sites and learning all the preventative measures. Yours today is most helpful, thank you! It is a very terrifying condition. Thank you for allowing me to vent....God Bless You 7 months is so far away...

I've had it for years and always thought it was normal. I've just been face planting like a man. Ate shit at work and my boss sent me to the hospital. He said I turned flush white and almost hit the propane tanks. 😅 syncope could be rough in the oil field, so he kinda saved my life.

I had - 6 years of this With fluids, that would take me out - 30 yrs of it with just food that would not take me out but cause me problems for up to a hour During the 6 years I studied my self and what was happening, and sometimes I could stop it halfway. If you are interested I’ll tell you the full story in detail. Food and fluids gave total different results. The fluid problem interestingly to me anyway only began after a emergency stomach operation within days of it , Ultimately after 6 years of fluids taking me down many many times One of them was massive I was unconscious for about 3 minutes But then a few minutes later it happened again BUT FOR THE FIRST EVER TIME WITHOUT THE FLUID BEING THE TRIGGER, the next 16 hours probably makes me one of the lucky people still to be alive The next 3 weeks- before I went to hospital were terrifying I walked into A&E with a heartbeat of 16

JULY 2022 I performed CPR on my mum for 6 mins until ambulance crew arrived unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be 😢 I’m a dental nurse and have do yearly CPR training , I haven’t done any since that day as the thought of training on a doll knowing I did it for real on my mum has traumatised me for life. This just happened to me now. I pp’d fast, like blasting it, then I felt lightheaded and my throat felt very odd and uncomfortable, like very unbearable. Then once I finished, my head was hurting and I almost passed out but I stayed up by leaning on the sink counter in the bathroom. Picture this: I fell back on the bathroom sink and spread both arms to hold myself up while slumped. That was not fun at all and this is new.

Every afternoon, I get these episodes, without fail. My problem is I'm constantly told to restrict water & salt intake (28 yrs of non-ischemic cardiomyopathy, 15% LVEF, BiV-ICD, persistent AF). Pedialyte Sport contains 650mg Na, 600mg K, 190mg P, 55mg Mg, 920mg Cl, and 7g sugar per serving. This concoction helps, but these episodes never go away. Taking 25mg x Carvedilol for rate control, but HR can fluctuate from 41bpm to 125bpm in seconds. Pulmonary HTN RVSP 56 mm Hg. Still working on how to reduce/manage these episodes effectively.

I have been an ICU,,CCU nurse for almost 4 decades this is an excellent video that clearly describes to the patients & their families what A Fib Rhythm does to a normal heart. In addition to how A-Fib presents a clear danger, not only to the heart, but the patient’s entire body if they would develop blood clots from the residual blood left behind in the atrium (upper chamber) of the heart. These clots could cause a major stroke in addition to many other severe complications. is and the dangers left untreated.

My dad had 3 episodes i last few years, in the recent one it got a bit escalated in which, he started coughing it was kinda aggressive cough and by the time my mum reached towards him to check on him/offer water he fell on his bed, his eyes turned blood red, his eye balls were pointing in some random direction, he was totally unresponsive and his body started jerking all his body hands legs everything were shaking! It looked like he’s having a seizure it lasted for upon 10 secs not more than than! After that he immediately went normal and and in next 1-2 secs he was like “what had happened to me?”. Doctors said it might have looked like a seizure but it most likely was cough syncope. Anyone reading this please provide with whatever opinion you have if you know anything about these kind of episodes

I was diagnosed with PTSD two years ago aged 41 due experiencing a very traumatic event aged 15. I was attacked by a man with a knife whilst I was walking home. My face was slashed twice, if i didn't duck my chin on the second blow my throat would have been cut and i would have been killed. Sadly before they stitched me up, i looked in the mirror and seen my face hanging apart. I blacked out and have no memory of my face being stitched. Sadly I wasn't given any follow upcare. I started to suffer blackout periods of violence when playing with friends and family. If someone caught my face where my scars were. I would have a panic attack, then flashback about being slashed and seeing my face hanging apart. I would wake up and i would be on top of a friend or family member, punching or strangling them, it would feel like a dream, then i would realise what was happening. I would get a fright and burst into tears and run home. I would have no memory at times that I've blacked out and been violent until someone would tell me. It was terrifying as i am not a violent person, I'm a whimp. Some times i can be triggered and flashback and i faint. They said i suffer from extreme dissociation. Is physcogenic blackouts the same as dissociation??

Hello Derek. Thank you for sharing your horrific experience as a young teenager and if it had happened today, hopefully you would have been offered some support or counselling. Psychogenic blackouts and PTSD blackouts can appear similar but are not the same. If an individual experiences loss of consciousness due to anxiety and stress rather than a physical cause, then it is referred to as a psychogenic blackout. A PTSD blackout may be linked to traumatic flashbacks with memory loss, waking up to an unexpected situation, possibly having experienced an adrenaline rush and likely to be diagnosed as a dissociative disorder, as in your case; symptoms can be severe. STARS Psychogenic Blackouts booklet will explain in more detail this condition api.heartrhythmalliance.org/files/download/736273194d3eca3138df924d099e81f0 We hope you are being given some treatment to help you manage your diagnosis.

@@ArrhythmiaAlliance thanks for your reply. The did say i did suffer from extreme dissociation.. I sometimes walk about and don't know whats real. When i was younger when this happened I reffered to myself as a ghost as i did not know if i was alive or dead. I experience blackouts if someone catches my face by accident as it triggers a flashback of my face hanging apart. Sadly it use to cause me to react violently in the abyss. Usually i blackout out and faint if i witness extremely stressful things, people getting hurt injuring themselves by accident or if I witness violence.

@@derekjohnson5720 We do hope, Derek, that you are being offered talking therapy by your healthcare professionals, which has proved to be very helpful to many. If you are UK based, there are support groups for dissociation. It is always good to talk.
